Azealia Banks announces ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ release date | Music News

As she continues to build buzz via a series of mixtape and EP releases, appearances in the fashion world and a few lightweight online feuds, Harlem MC Azealia Banks has now announced the official release date for her debut LP.

The 21-year-old spitter took to her Twitter account Saturday night to reveal that fans can expect her Broke With Expensive Taste project early next year.

The album follows Banks’ 212 EP and Fantasea mixtape, and has finally been given a new date after the initial September 2012 date fell through due to her ever-increasing list of additional obligations including acting as the face of high fashion line T by Alexander Wang.

“I am trying to find that personal space again because I have an album to finish,” she told fashion magazine Nylon earlier this year. “All the praise from the fashion world is great but now everybody wants a piece and everybody wants an interview, but I need to step away and get my music done.”

Banks describes her debut set as the story of a girl who’s “trying to find her place in the world but she’s still trying to be young and have a good time. She’s still trying to look fresh so she’s gonna spit some shit about clothes. She’s gonna spit some bullshit, but then she might really drop some real n–ga shit. It might sound artsy but it’ll have some real n–ga shit.”
