With his debut album on the way, New Orleans native August Alsina enlists rap boss Rick Ross for the project’s second single.

Set to drop on April 15th through Def Jam, Alsina’s imminent album is titled Testimony and this pensive track continues the church trend, with the Hip-Hop flavoured R&B singer voicing his pain over a gospel-influenced backdrop on “Benediction.”

The album release date matches the birthday of August’s older brother Melvin LaBranch III, who was murdered in New Orleans in 2010, and this project is dedicated to his memory.

“As an artist, I struggle with how much of myself to give to the people. How much I want my personal business to be judged,” August reflects on the personal stories he shares in his music, adding, “Nothing is held back on Testimony. When people hear my story, and see that I came from nothing, they’ll see that it’s possible for them too.”

With further guest appearances from Pusha T, B.o.B, Yo Gotti, Trinidad James and Fabolous, plus Jeezy on his previous single “Make It Home,” Testimony is available to pre-order on iTunes.
