Ab-Soul speaks on ‘Black Lip Bastard’ nickname, Kendrick Lamar’s “HiiiPoWeR” + more [Video]

Although the Black Hippy gang boast a fairly similar output, the media fabricated an overwhelming sense that Kendrick Lamar was the only shining light from the TDE camp last year. Unfair, to say the least. But with ScHoolboy Q‘s super dope HABITS & Contradictions now in circulation and the afro-on-legs that is Ab-Soul serving up tasty samples from whatever future project he’s warming in the oven, the scales are looking to balance out in better stead for the Black Hippies (still waiting to hear word on your disappearance though, Jay Rock).

After seeing his past two drops (“Showin’ Love” and “Black Lip Bastard”) ignite the internet with excitement, Ab-Soul sits down with newly formed media platform Electric Circus as they shed some light on the intriguing TDE character.

As seen in the video below, Solo discusses the origins behind his “Black Lip Bastard” nickname, his influence on Kendrick‘s “HiiiPower” record and more. All shared under the haven of his afro, shades and fitted, though, so he didn’t completely rid the mystique.
