Ab-Soul headlines first show in Los Angeles [Video]

Despite releasing Longterm Mentality last year, you can’t help but to feel that Ab-Soul‘s project – impressive as it was – got washed under the tides of Jay Rock‘s debut album Follow Me Home, ScHoolboy Q‘s Setbacks LP and Kendrick Lamar‘s Section. 80, which seemingly eclipsed 75% of all hip-hop releases, let alone his Black Hippy counterparts’.

With his brand new project Control System under his belt, however, the scales in the TDE camp are starting to balance in Solo’s favour, and have given the self-dubbed Black Lip Bastard the level of credibility to headline shows, not simply support. Los Angeles’ Key Club was the venue last night where Ab-Soul was granted his first headlining gig, and, it’s safe to say, he’ll be winning himself many more in the near future.

Fellow Black Hippies Jay Rock and ScHoolboy Q and TDE affiliate Jhené Aiko all made guest appearances, where jams like “SOPA”, “Hands On The Wheel”, “Terrorist Threats” and “Pineal Gland” (which got the place especially rocking) were performed. Check out the clips below for a brief recap of the night.
