50 Cent’s ‘The Lost Tapes’ mixtape pushed back | Music News

G-Unit boss 50 Cent has pushed his Lost Tapes mixtape back a week, changing the release date to May 22.

In an interview with MTV’s Mixtape Daily, Fif said he didn’t want to “overwhelm” people with too many tracks so he decided to keep the project at 13 songs: 10 new joints and three that you “might have heard at some point.”

The tape marks Fif’s first time working with DJ Drama and his famed Gangsta Grillz brand, a move that wasn’t made sooner due to technological advances new at the time that allowed him to put mixtapes out without a DJ.

He also spoke on his history in the mixtape game and his impact on the way music is marketed, saying: “When somebody’s handin’ you a mixtape, they don’t realize they’re handing you that tape ’cause of me.”
