The Bullitts never do anything in small measures. The cinematic-musical entity lead by the incomparable Jeymes Samuel already took us on a multi platform adventure with the Lucy Liu and Idris Elba led psychological thriller captured in The Diary Of Amelia Sparks, but that wasn’t enough and with his sights set on the silver screen, the Bristish singer, songwriter, producer and dreamer takes up the director and screenwriter role and transports us to the Wild West as it hasn’t been portrayed before in They Die By Dawn.
With an all star cast gathered to portray characters of colour as they have never been seen before on screen (Every single character in this movie is a real person of historical significance), They Die By Dawn is set in the town of Langston, Oklahoma, which was one of the first black settlements post slavery, in the year 1890, where four outlaws with bounties on their individual heads meet up to play a game to the death, with the last man standing taking the collective bounty.
Starring Michael K. Williams (Nat Love), Isaiah Washington (Ben Hodges), Bokeem Woodbine (Bill Pickett), Nate Parker (Jim Beckwourth), Jesse Williams (John Taylor), Rosario Dawson (Edmonia Lewis), Erykah Badu (Stagecoach Mary), Harry Lennix (Sheriff Bass Reeves), Denzel Whitaker (Paul Lawrence Dunbar), David Banner (Bose Ickard) and lastly, for the first time ever played on screen… Roger Guenveur Smith as Jourdan Anderson. The movie will be released early 2013 but for now check out the trailer below and stay locked for The Bullitts’ debut album They Die By Dawn & Other Short Stories coming soon, with an exclusive first listen right here at SoulCulture!
