T.I.‘s eighth studio album, Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head is in stores today, and not long before its release the Atlanta, Georgia native took the stage of BET’s 106 & Park show to discuss the new LP and sharing his family life on reality show T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle.

The album title of Trouble Man was first used by Marvin Gaye in 1972. T.I. pays tribute to the soul legend stating, “at that moment in time, Marvin Gaye’s life embodied the meaning of ‘trouble,’ and what the song meant. In the present day, I feel like the adversity I’ve endured in my life is synonymous with the meaning of ‘trouble man’ today.”

With regards to the composition of his Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head LP, Tip had the following to say: “It has more of a balanced blend of vintage T.I., Trap Muzik sound, mixed with some of the mainstream radio records that you heard from Paper Trail. It’s a cohesive blend.

He added, “It was an honor to go in with the best, most elite, upper-echelon producers in the game. Pharrell told me, ‘whatever you see when you hear the music and your eyes close, you need to go with that.’ So I called Cee-Lo, Andre 3000, Pink.”

With regards to his personal life T.I. noted, “always been a family man, I seem to have a kid with each album release to celebrate. It’s a blessing to be able to share our family moments with the rest of you all on Family Hustle.” Watch the entire interview below.
