After already SClusively dropping off his latest single, “Dear Beloved (A Letter To Rapsody)”, an ode to Jamla Records rapper Rapsody, Devine Carama today debuts his new album No Child Left Behind.

Standing at 11 tracks in length, No Child Left Behind is “an open letter to an 8th grade middle school class,” according to Carama, “for those young inner city teens struggling to navigate their way through the world with limited guidance, opportunities, and foggy mirrors as best they can.”

With that said it isn’t just Carama’s lyrical content that will be for the kids. While the album will be available free digitally until June 31st, following this date fans can name their price via the rapper’s Bandcamp or purchase a physical copy on Devine’s website. Half of all digital and physical proceeds will go to the Junior Achievement Of The Bluegrass, which as an incorporated company teaches young people about money management and how business works.

No Child Left Behind features appearances from the likes of Deacon The Villain (of the group CunninLynguists) and Michelle Hollis, and is Carama’s fourth solo project.

“Musically, I wanted to bring back some of the soulful soundscapes that seem to have touched people over the years yet have seemingly been abandoned by mainstream Hip-Hop. I just wanted to do my part by bringing back the balance the game needs, even if just a very small part.”

Complete with soulful production, thoughtful words of wisdom and a structured lyrical blueprint that fluctuates in speed, delivery and direction, No Child Left Behind is for both fans of the golden era of Hip-Hop and those searching for something with a bit of meaning.

Adding, “If the album is something you dig please, please, please share it with a friend [or ten],” Carama just wants to add his two pence in a game that has inspired many people the world over since its introduction back in the ’70s.
