Ryan Leslie has had a tricky time of late. Having lost a million dollar lawsuit filed against him for failing to pay the reward he promised to a German businessmen for the return of a stolen laptop in 2010,  the R&B star has been on the receiving end of negative stories from the New York Post and other papers, and broke down on stage earlier this week as he addressed the issue.

Well now it seems that Leslie is set to use the experience as the launchpad for a new EP and documentary, titled Black Mozart and inspired in part by European classical music. He tells Vibe:

Black Mozart starts at the moment that I walk out of the courthouse. I wrote the entire album in the two days following the verdict, so the album is written and will be recorded in layers with the strings, horns and potentially a choir in the royal conservatory in Vienna, Austria, one of the homes of some of the most classical music ever written.”

Leslie went on to explain that he’s making the EP as an alternative to re-releasing his latest album Les Is More (read our review here). He revealed that the new project is comprised of seven brand new compositions and will feature “Diced Pineapples” producer Cardiak:

I’m actually working with somebody. I’ve been watching his career for a minute and I’m very excited about what he’s been bringing to the table musically, so I’ll be bringing Cardiak with me to Vienna. Then I’ll also be collaborating with another producer from the United Kingdom named Cadenza.”

Black Mozart, which we can expect in early 2013, will also be accompanied by a worldwide tour, with Leslie revisiting the UK in February and holding a concert called “Lovers and Mountains” at Irving Plaza in NYC on Valentine’s Day.
