Despite being named Executive Vice President of Def Jam last year and regularly producing for some of hip hop’s biggest names, veteran Chicago producer No I.D. still has time to craft the occasional instrumental for himself, and yesterday (December 17th), he posted two brand new compositions to his SoundCloud account.

The Grammy Award-winning beatmaker, whose work with Common, Kanye West, Jay Z, Drake and more has made him one of hip hop’s household names, executive produced NasLife is Good album earlier this year, and has been busy working with artists such as Jhene Aiko on his own Artium Recordings label, but these new tracks, “God Bless The Native Americans 2” and “Just Because” seem to fall into their own lane.

“God Bless The Native Americans 2″ sees him create an evocative, mellow soundscape, carried along by punchy drums and a pretty synth melody, while the steady, la-la-la-la-la-la-sampling “Just Because” takes classic hip hop sounds into a funky future like a bizarre video game. Who could you imagine rapping over these?
