Kings of Leon return with their sixth studio album, Mechanical Bull, set for release on 24th September. In anticipation for the follow-up to 2010′s chart topping Come Around Sundown, they have just released lead single “Supersoaker”.
“Supersoaker” sees the band return to their Youth & Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak stylings with its driving guitar riff, straight-thumping drums, catchy chorus and vocalist Caleb’s signature incomprehensible scream. The track is a perfect example of the classic Kings of Leon stadium rock-cum-lo-fi dive bar sound and is a welcome return to their sonic roots. The video still hasn’t been shot and so all we have is an irritatingly lacklustre set of flashing neon lights, but “Supersoaker” is still a great comeback amidst this summer heatwave, especially following previous rehab rumours and cancelled tour dates.
