Homeboy Sandman and Jaylib are releasing a split 7″ single to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the German hip hop shop HHV.de and here’s Boy Sands’ contribution, a brand new track entitled “Richardsun”.

Richardsun” sees the Queens-hailing lyricist rap in a fast, spiralling flow over memorable production from 88 Keys-affiliate and frequent collaborator R’thentic RTNC. The underground producer contributed a handful of tracks to Sandman’s First of a Living Breed LP, but this is superior to any of those instrumentals, as he loops Mike Oldfield’s unforgettable Exorcist theme and builds a hip hop track around it, adding extra percussion, strings and wind instruments.

Whilst I try to decipher the lyrics, allow yourself to get lost in the music, and look out for the special edition 7″, which features a Jaylib remix previously heard on the Champion Sound Deluxe CD. I’m told only 300 copies of the Homeboy/Jaylib single are available, so head over to Stones Throw Records imminently if you want more information.
