G.O.O.D. Music (Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T x 2 Chainz) – “Mercy” (Slim K Slowdown) | New Music

April 18th, 2012 | by Andy Bustard

One of the biggest tracks of recent memory now comes in a double plastic cup. Texas DJ Slim K, who has been upping his reputation of late through his trademarked “slowdown” remixes, puts G.O.O.D. Music‘s monstrous “Mercy” single to the chopped & screwed test, producing a very interesting listen indeed.

You would have initially thought the Lifted-produced banger, which already flies at a considerable place, wouldn’t have meshed well with DJ Screw‘s famous technique, especially with that Indian-style sample ringing throughout. But it’s the elongated rhythm of it all that matches up to, if not betters the original. Hey, if we get to revisit 2 Chainz‘s show-stealing verse for twice the length of time, that’s good with me.
