Toronto’s much-buzzed-about (and slightly elusive) new act The Weeknd dropped this debut mixtape late last night, featuring the already released “Wicked Games,” “Loft Music,” “What You Need” and a reworked version of “The Morning” plus five brand new tracks. Tracklist, download link and a sneaky preview below…

Tracklist:
1. High For This
2. What You Need
3. House Of Balloons – Glass Table Girls
4. The Morning
5. Wicked Games
6. The Party & The After Party
7. Coming Down
8. Loft Music
9. The Knowing

Of the five new tracks on the mixtape,  the opener is probably my favourite – it’s an interpretation of that sexy R&B/Dubstep sound that a few artists have been shooting wildly for (and, apart from a few Jamie Woon shaped exceptions, mostly missing) this year, done properly.

The Weeknd – “High For This”

If House of Balloons takes off anything like mentor (and fellow Torontonian – yep, real word, I checked) Drake’s So Far Gone did, there’ll be a lot of babies made to this mixtape. This is a must-download – a dope introduction to an exceptional new artist who might well lead a revolution in the sound of R&B.
