Frank Ocean – “Voodoo” | New Music

January 29th, 2012 | by M. Gosho Oakes

Some new lyrically engaging material hits the net from New Orleans singer/songwriter Frank Ocean, in the form of brief new song “Voodoo,” as a smooth R&B bed sets the pace for Ocean’s reflective lyrics. “Our daughters and our sons / are just candles in the sun…” he sings. “…don’t let him see divide / don’t you let her see divide.”

Whilst fans await his next official release following his widely acclaimed debut mixtape Nostalgia, ULTRA release, Ocean has been busy in the studio penning songs for the likes of Beyonce and Bridget Kelly – and has recently been in the studio with Kanye West in London [following his features on Watch The Throne], recording for the upcoming GOOD Music compilation album.

Stay tuned…

Lyrics:

darker times
they’re telling boulder heavy lies
looks like all we’ve got is each other
the truth is obsolete
remember when all i had was my mother
she didn’t compromise
she could recognize
voodoo
our daughters and our sons
are just candles in the sun
voodoo
don’t let him see divide
don’t you let her see divide
voodoo
she’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit
he’s got the whole wide world in his pants
he wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band
then put the whole wide world on her hands
she’s got the whole wide world in her hands
he’s got the whole wide world in his hands.
