Following on from the success of his recent top 10 hit “(All Along The) Watch Tower”, Devlin serves up another impressive display of lyricism in “Rewind”, featuring US singer-songwriter Diane Birch.
The rapper reflects on friends he has lost over the years, who are unable to share his musical achievements with him and his honest lyrics are then offset by Diane’s mournful vocals, which suit the style of song really well.
Speaking about the track, Devlin says: “The journey I’ve been on these past few years, I wish they could be here to witness it. A couple of relatives, and friends I’ve lost from the manor I grew up in – it upsets me that they’re not here to enjoy it with me.”
“Rewind” acts as proof that Devlin is a force to be reckoned with in the UK music scene, if not only because of the creative and emotional content he includes in every project he works on.
Taken from his forthcoming album A Moving Picture, this track is certainly worth a listen.
