Yesterday Curren$y dropped a visual for “Chandelier“, a track aimed at an ex, so the choice to release a track called “Ex Girls” shows that Spitta’s former flames have definitely been on his mind. On the other hand, this collaboration with fellow Jet Lifer Young Roddy, which was made on the Stoned Immaculate tour-bus, is a much more nonchalant nod to the past than his previous track. The beat is self-assured and mellow, setting the scene for Curren$y’s descriptions of casual reunions, and a hook that’s cleverer than it first looks. On the chorus he raps, with subtle changes of emphasis, “I’m sure that I could still fuck all my ex-girls/ I could still fuck all my ex-girls/ I’m quite sure that I could fuck all my ex-girls”.
Apparently the track was released to celebrate the New Orleans Saints’ victory over the Atlanta Falcons. It won’t appear on the Jets’ upcoming studio album Jet World Order 2, but it’s a great taste of what’s to come on November 20th. Press play below:
