This week I’ve heard enough remixes of turn of the century UK garage and R&B to keep Craig David and Destiny’s Child on playlists for the rest of eternity, but the thing is, most of them are just too damn vibe-worthy to ignore, and this take on Craig’s Born To Do It breakthrough classic “Fill Me In” is right up there with the best of them.
The last time we heard Seattle-based producer Sango he tore up the rulebook with his delightfully dislocated version of Nas’ “You Owe Me“. This time the R&B loving remix star goes with a slower, simpler formula, staying true to Craig David’s mid-tempo vocals whilst layering the track with heavy kicks, cloudy synths and compressed drums. The result is an ambient, late-night cut; a mature update to the original.
