Snoop Lion continues his transition into a reborn reggae artist with his latest video for “Here Comes The King” – a track co-written by Brooklyn native Angele Hunte, who also originally penned Jay-Z‘s “Empire State Of Mind”.
Intent on sticking with his Snoop Lion moniker and promoting the Rastafarian way of life that he’s adopted since returning from a life changing trip to Jamaica, the former rapper is seen in this video embracing Jamaican culture and seated upon a throne in full regalia.
The visual apparently aims to celebrate peace, love and unity. Director Andy Capper explains:
“We shot this video in the Trident Castle in Port Antonio, Jamaica. The video is made up of performance shots in the castle, cut up with scenes from the Reincarnated movie, which is out in US theaters on March 15. UK release is March 22. The DVD will be released on April 16.”
Aswell as the Reincarnated movie – which will document Snoop’s Rastafarian awakening – there is also a reggae album in the works that we can expect to hear in April.
Check out “Here Comes The King” below and see whether you’re willing to bow down to this.
Personally, I was hoping for someone to jump out halfway through the video and tell me it was a spoof. I miss Snoop Dogg.
