Fabolous represents for his city in the new visual for local anthem “So N.Y.”
The stylish black-and-white clip, directed by Taj, shows the Brooklyn native staying faithful to his hometown as Hurricane Sandy rages and threatens the streets he grew up in. Beginning with a news announcement, it takes us on a ride through the city, including some of the areas worst-hit by the hurricane, and captures memorable shots of the the property and people left ruined by the deluge.
Fab, who’s there amongst his fellow New Yorkers, shows that he’s motivated by civic pride, and in this video his lyrics come across less as a rebuke to Weezy (the original reason for the track) and more as a vigorous response to natural disaster. Rapping in front of a live band one minute, the Bridge the next, he shows that no outside force, Sandy included, can shake the Empire State of mind.
