After last year’s surprises, which saw Kanye West, Monie Love and Black Thought join Q-Tip‘s headlining set, the 2012 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival had a tough gig to follow. But concluding the five-day festivities was the concert last night (Saturday), which, it’s safe to say, came through with a clutch move. Headlining the event this time round was BK native and veteran emcee Busta Rhymes, who was listed as performing with “friends”.
And those friends just happened to include Lil’ Fame of M.O.P., Buckshot, Tek and Steele of Smif-N-Wessun, Slick Rick, Reek Da Villian, J. Doe, A Tribe Called Quest‘s Phife Dawg and Q-Tip (who were at a rare moment of peace) and the reunion of Busa Buss’ old crew, Leaders of the New School (also comprised of Charlie Brown, Dinco D and Cut Monitor Milo) which has been almost 20 years in the making.
