Rumours have emerged that suggest Instagram may be preparing to integrate videos into the popular photo-sharing app.

TechCrunch received word from a source that Facebook will unveil the new feature at a press event on Thursday, June 20. It seems even the behemoth that Facebook bought for $715 million last year can’t deny the success of “Instagram for video” apps like Vine, Keek and the rest, with TC noting that shares of Vine’s videos surpassed those of Instagram photos upon the long-awaited Android app debut earlier this month.

It’s not hard to see why Instagram might be quaking in it’s boots a little, after Facebook revoked Twitter’s ability to view Instagram photos within tweets many have been looking to alternative options, weakening Instagram’s grip on the photo-sharing market, even if only slightly.

Not much else about the functionality has been revealed, so who knows if filters will be involved, but it seems the videos will be between 5-10 videos in length.
