At the age of only 16, South East London born and raised singer Rainy Milo exudes an honest, mature and captivating essence far beyond her years.
The young singer-songwriter, model and artist came into our consciousness with “Bout You”, a hypnotic musical delight which was the result of Milo’s internet search for free Jazz and Hip Hop beats, leading to her stumbling on a Jazzy hip hop instrumental produced by BLCK RSSN. Within hours of her writing and recording over the soundbed and posting it on tumblr, “Bout You” found its way onto several influential blogs, magazines and tastemakers [including Gilles Peterson, who featured it in his esteemed Brownswood Bubblers series].
Rainy cemented the buzz with the release of her debut FreEP/mixtape Limey, a five-track project “written on red buses, tubes, cloudy days and chilly nights in London.” Marrying her hypnotic, soulful vocals and honest diary-entry style lyrics with dreamy soundscapes provided by Ariel Pink‘s Haunted Graffiti associate Cole M.G.N. alongside Oddisee, Chet Faker, Daje and BLCK RSSN, you can download Rainy Milo’s Limey EP here.
Now signed to Mercury/Universal records, with her full length currently being recorded and set for release this year as well as select UK shows in spring and European festivals throughout the summer, Rainy Milo is definitely taking Usain Bolt strides on the road to success in 2013.
