Showcasing unique vocals that incorporate blues, soul, gospel and folk inflections, Jackson, Tennessee-born singer-songwriter Valerie June recently made her television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman in New York City, performing her current single “Workin’ Woman Blues.”

“Workin’ Woman Blues” is from June’s latest album, Pushin’ Against a Stone, her first LP with Concord Music Group (Paul McCartney, Aaron Neville, Zap Mama). I’ve listened to the album several times over the last few weeks and it’s enchanting in a way that isn’t forced; you just know Valerie is simply being herself.

Having independently released three records over the years, June is currently making her rounds with a nationwide US tour, with stops in Seattle, WA on September 15th and ending with an October 22nd performance in Chicago, IL. She’s back in Europe on November 8th, with a show in Tourcoing, France.
