The first trailer for upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film World War Z has been released, and is sure to get zombie fans salivating.

After a long wait (Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment secured the screen rights in 2007) we finally get to see Pitt as Gerry Lane, a UN employee travelling the world interviewing survivors and collecting first-hand accounts from the zombie war. The trailer shows just some of the action we’ll see as Gerry journeys, and is heavily populated with CGI zombies throughout.

Based on Max Brooks’ gripping 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, the film, directed by Marc Forster (Monster’s Ball, Quantum of Solace), has seen a number of setbacks, from delays to production issues and nearly complete abandonment last year until Paramount found a partner to co-finance it. Now that we finally have a UK release date of June 21 2013 peep the trailer below.
