This month Hip-Hop celebrated the 17th anniversary since Tupac took his last breath, but the rap icon’s legacy is far from dead – and now the life of Tupac Shakur is finally to get its proper display on the big screen.
The biopic is estimated to begin filming as early as February 2014, according to Deadline, with the script being worked on as you read this post. Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films is teaming up with Morgan Creek Productions to co-finance and co-produce the film with a budget of $45 million. Pac’s mother Afeni Shakur and collaborator LT Hutton have also been drafted as producers and the film has rights to Pac’s catalog.
Sounds like everything is set for another Tupac comeback. Stay tuned for further news on the film and, if you’re more of a Broadway-kind of person, you can also catch Tupac’s music coming to life soon in a new musical titled Holler If Ya Hear Me.
