Tawiah reworks Soul For Real's "Candy Rain" | New Music

BRIT School graduate and London-based newcomer Tawiah treats us to some new material today with the release of a cover of the 1994 Soul For Real hit "Candy Rain".

For her version, Tawiah removes the '90s signature boom-bap groove and instead transforms the track from a club-friendly number into a foreboding ballad filled with her emotive vocals and an ominous repetition of guitars that sit softly in the background. Instantly she modernises the song and removes it from its context, making it perfect listening for 2013.

Take a listen to the track below and if you like what you hear you can grab Tawiah's latest EP for free from her Soundcloud.

Kanye West talks corporations, limitations and restrictions on creativity with Zane Lowe [Video]

Earlier this week Yeezus himself stopped by Radio 1 to take part in an extensive interview with Zane Lowe on his life and career as it stands.

In the second part of their hour long interview, which you can watch below, Kanye expounds on a number of issues as he feverishly shouts over Zane Lowe's questions. Starting from Kanye calling himself the biggest rockstar on the planet, he goes on to talk about the restrictions he finds when he tries to showcase his creativity, ranging from an immersive theatre experience which he claims to have pioneered without gaining any credit to the uneccessary endorsements musicians take on in order to further their marketability and wealth.

Kanye also touches on racism and classism in the interview, both of which are prevalent themes in the Yeezus  album. Through his bravado he makes a number of interesting points on the labelling of his song "I Am A God" and criticises people's restrictive perceptions of themselves, stating that "I always felt like I could do anything".

The interview is an intriguing insight into what is regarded as one of the most colossal egos of music today, and although it is amusing in parts with Kanye concluding that he is a Postmodernist that only "wants to help", much can be gleaned about his creative process and conflicting mindsets of wanting to be respected and gain commercial success at the same time from it.

Laura Welsh - "Undiscovered" | Music Video

Following a support slot at Ellie Goulding's iTunes Festival performance last night, newcomer Laura Welsh has just released the visuals for her latest single "Undiscovered".

Since first creating a buzz with the summer release of her Cold Front EP, the UK singer has carved out a signature sultry sound which melds well-crafted pop with the soulful edge contained in her vocal delivery. She continues on this trend with the video premier of "Undiscovered", allowing her Jessie Ware-style top line sit on the straight groove. Taking on a similar theme to the monochromatic body movement shot in the video for "Cold Front", "Undiscovered" latches onto the driving beat and infectious melodies as it showcases Welsh in soft focus surrounded by pulsating and writhing bodies that follow the movement of the track.

The single marks another collaboration with Solange Knowles accomplice Dev Hynes and will be released on October 28th on Outsiders/Polydor. Take a look at the video below:
