We’ve got Star Wars everything. Aside from the movies, there are cartoons, shirts, toys, LEGOs, video games, weapons (real life Lightsabers!), lunchboxes, board games, Tauntaun Sleeping Bags, Wookie Cookies, Galactic Empire Dressing Gowns and R2-D2 ice cube moulds. George Lucas has stamped The Force on everything; curios and bric a brac of all shapes and sizes. For years there’s been talk of a Star Wars TV show, with many clamouring for a series starring Luke Skywalker, following Han Solo or even documenting the life, times and bounty-hunting space travels of Boba Fett. The thing is, we’ve sorta already had that for a while.

Aired on Cartoon Network and produced by Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a 3D CGI-animated television series that documents the battles between The Grand Army of the Republic — led by Yoda, Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi — and the New Droid Army of the Separatists. Featuring the voice work of Tom Kane, who’s brought legendary characters like X-Men’s Charles Xavier and Lord of the Rings’ Gandalf to life, and Dee Bradley Baker, aka Klaus from American Dad!The Clone Wars has been on the air since October 2008 and has earned several award nominations.

Back for a fifth season, The Clone Wars is set for yet another epic run of high-stakes intergalactic drama, as Darth Maul, the Andarans, Republic Commandos and Mandalorians take on Anakin Skywalker and co.

The synopsis for the upcoming season reads:

The shadow of the dark side falls upon Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season Five as the series moves closer to the grim events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. The big-screen action, unforgettable characters, and rousing adventure of the Star Wars Saga continue, as Jedi heroes face a galaxy of foes. With unparalleled visuals, sound, action and adventure, Star Wars: The Clone Wars continues the cinematic saga with the equivalent of a short animated Star Wars movie each week. Season Five is filled with explosive action, exotic worlds, intriguing characters and shocking turns as several major players face their destinies as the galaxy plunges into darkness.
