Hurricane Sandy left an aftermath of disaster across parts of America and the Caribbean, with lives taken and many cities destroyed by floods and fires. The American Red Cross has been doing their part to try to raise money to get aid to the victims of the natural disaster, and NBC also held a Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together telethon to try to further encourage donations, which Mary J. Blige took part in to help the cause.

Blige prefaced her performance speaking directly to camera;  “My prayers go out to everyone who was affected by the hurricane. Things are gonna get better so please just hang in there, be strong and have faith. And please everybody watching tonight give something, anything. Every penny counts.” She then gave an emotional and heartfelt performance of “The Living Proof,” with images of the disaster shown behind her.

If you would like to help those affected by hurricane Sandy you can donate via the Red Cross..
