Warner Home Video has released the second teaser for the upcoming animated movie Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1.

Directed by Jay Oliva (Young Justice, Jackie Chan Adventures), The Dark Knight Returns features the voice work of Peter Weller, who plays Bruce Wayne/Batman; Ariel Winter as Carrie Kelley/Robin, and David Selby – who brings James Gordon to life.

The Dark Knight Returns is an adaptation of Frank Miller‘s classic four-issue comic book series, echoing many aspects of Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises. The animated film focuses on a reclusive Bruce Wayne who has withdrawn into the shadows of an especially corrupt and decaying Gotham, Batman being missing in action for a decade. Now 55, DC’s caped billionaire is force to don his cowl one last time, extending his long arm of vigilante justice to administer some much needed superhero ass-whoopings.

The Dark Knight takes on Gotham’s toughest villains, in this case tackling the Mutants; characters taken straight from Miller’s comic-book series, described as “the law.”

The latest teaser for Jay Oliva’s soon to be released animated film comes in the shape of a chilling, deep-voiced televised announcement in which the visor wearing Mutants’ makes his intentions clear, promising the destruction and deaths of Chief Inspector Gordon and the Batman.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 comes out on DVD 25 September. Peep the trailer and check out some great images from the animated movie below.
