Peter Travis’ Dredd 3D finally hits the big screen in just a couple of days. In the lead up to the release of the eagerly awaited film, a prequel in the shape of a digital comic has been unveiled online.

The comic offers a ten-page back-story for Travis’ principal villain, Ma-Ma – portrayed by Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey. Ma-Ma is Peach Tree Block’s Queen-pin; the fearsome Slo-Mo addict and peddler who runs the rule over a wild, terrifying and savage bunch of goons.

The comic tells Ma-Ma’s tale, chronicling her rise to the top of Mega-City One’s crime-world. Illustrated by Henry Flint, the comic is written by Matt Smith, with Chris Blythe handling colours, Simon Bowland on letters duty and Greg Staples the cover artist.

The comic can be read online here.

Released on 7 September, peep the trailer for the upcoming Dredd 3D below.
