An enthusiastic Grand Theft Auto fan has given the iconic video game series the power to indulge in some time travel with a customized GTA IV: Back to the Future modification.

Replete with the Marty McFly get up — sneaks, jacket and all — fully kitted-out DeLorean, plutonium meter and time travel panel, the exciting and exceedingly cool Mod takes the gaming experience to a whole new nostalgic level, bringing out the Michael J. Fox in all GTA lovers.

Created by a fan and YouTube user who goes by the handle seedyrom34, the Mod brings Doc Brown’s famous DeLorean DMC-12 to life, meticulously developing a detailed vehicle skin that comes with a working flux capacitor. Incredibly, the swagged-out whip can also time-travel on command at 88 MPH. As if that wasn’t enough, a rendition of Christopher Lloyd’s great voice can be heard offering some timely and colourful advice.

Unfortunately, this is something most of us will probably never be able to play for ourselves (unless we’re willing to learn a ton of technical computer modding), as seedyrom34 explains in a message posted with the video:

DISCLAIMER: There is no single “Download Link” for this mod. It’s a HEAVILY CUSTOMIZED PC project from a die-hard BTTF and GTA fan. It took me months to tweak everything and finally get it working right but I couldn’t have done it without the help of some truly great mod makers (credits/links below). Please don’t just start modifying your game without researching and backing things up first. You WILL break it.

I made this video mostly to show what can still be done with this amazing game and to give other BTTF fans some information on how to create something similar, though not exact. I’ll answer simple questions but I can’t train you on how to mod GTA…you’ll have to do some research yourself, if you’re up to it! It’s a hell of a lot more than just installing a skin or two…we’re talking hours and hours of editing files. I’ve only played with it for a few hours now but it was totally worth it.

A bit of a bummer that we can’t actually take the DeLorean for a spin, but this is still all kinds of awesome.
