Beautiful and talented soulful R&B vixen Jhené Aiko, whom earlier this year came to the attention of a wider demographic of music listeners via the release of her critically acclaimed Sailing Souls project and a long list of remixes, virals and free music, yesterday took to her Twitter account to announce that she had signed with Def Jam.
The West Coast LA singer tweeted a picture of herself and No I.D, Def Jam’s recently appointed Executive Vice President of A&R, who can be seen holding the freshly inked contact.
To say the least it has been a long hard road for the songwriter who was previously signed to the Chris Stokes-operated T.U.G. label, who at stage had a distribution deal with Epic Records. Via the deal she worked extensively and to some extent exclusively with the T.U.G. outfit and two of their marquee artists B2K and O’Ryan writing for both of them and featuring on many of their projects and videos as well as opening for B2K during their highly successful Scream 3 tour.[via 2dopeboyz]
