After the monster smash that is her 21 album, Adele had vowed to “fuck off” for five years, but, to the delight of many, this declaration has been revoked. While visiting France’s NRJ Radio the British songstress talked about releasing a new single this year and an album in 2013, as well as potentially working with Beyonce.

Although Adele has never officially duetted with anyone, she gave a good reason as to why: “Most of my inspirations are old music and sadly they have all died. I always wanted to do a duet with Etta James, but sadly she passed.”

However, if it were down to which living artists she would collaborate with there was just one woman for the job.

“I probably would take Beyonce. So yea, for living [artists], Beyonce. I’ve been listing to her since I was 11, I adore her,” she says.

Speaking on whether she has any plans yet for a new album, she let it be known that there was no rush. “If I didn’t write my own songs, I’d be out next week with a new album. I have to take time and live a little bit.” She also talks about a more hands on approach with the next album. “I want to write it, record it all, produce it all and master it on my own.”

But Adele won’t keep us waiting too long for new music as she says there will be a single before “the end of the year.”
